Our Story
Born from a simple desire to serve, Operation Sharing Tennessee began in the heart of our community in 2008. We believe that every individual deserves hope and the opportunity for transformation. Through shared resources and collective action, we are weaving a stronger social fabric, one life at a time, across the beautiful landscape of Tennessee. Our partners include other non-profits, churches, government agencies and schools. Our operating costs are supported by grants and donations from churches, government agencies and individuals. Our growth and ability to meet more needs is limited only by finances donated by others.
Who We Serve

Churches
We serve churches who are investing in the community, meeting needs of those who have less. They come in church vans, pickups with trailers and UHaul trucks. All of them are volunteers helping their communities.
Other Non-Profits
Providing essential resources and stability for local families navigating difficult life changes. We assist organizations that work with the homeless, women's shelters, county and city governments, food pantries and more.

Schools
Reaching the children with food insecurity and unstable homes. We provide snacks, backpacks, paper, pencils, clothing including shoes and coats and other items needed by school children in need.
More About Us
OST specializes in Donated in Kind items. What that means is we can receive shipments from just about any retailer or wholesaler. There are some distribution restrictions placed on us in order to continue the “donated for tax write off” status of the items. Simply that means that we must distribute them to other 501 (c) 3 organizations, churches, schools and government entities. These items cannot be sold under any circumstances even if the sale would benefit your organization.
Some sample shipments might include furniture, drinks, chips, other food items, personal care items, paper products, school supplies, medical supplies, windows, doors or any other item that has been returned to a retailer. This summer we received two semi truck loads of ice cream products and one of pumpkin pies. We distribute what we have at the time to our partners without discrimination.
To become a partner we have an agreement to fill out with pertinent information, including your documentation as a church or tax-exempt organization. We require photocopies of the drivers’ licenses of those who will be picking up your organization’s items. We set 20 minute time slots up Tuesday through Thursday from 9 to 3:30. If you would like to partner with us call our office at (423) 286-3300. We’ll tell you next steps and get you on the schedule.
